Most regulated operators publish an APK on their own site for Android readers whose devices do not have Google Play. This page reads the version check, the install toggle, and the small set of things that go wrong.
Chapter 01 · Version check
Match the APK version to the operator release notes.
The APK version number is in the file name and inside the operators release notes. Match them before you install. A mismatched APK is the most common cause of a failed sign-in.
Read the release notes
The release notes will name the same version and date. If the two do not match, do not install.
Chapter 02 · Install toggle
Enable install from unknown sources for the browser only.
Modern Android asks you to allow install from a specific app, not from all sources. Allow the browser only. Disable the toggle after the install is complete.
Browser is the only allowed app
If the operator is on Google Play, install from there and skip the toggle. If you are on the APK path, the browser is the only app that needs the toggle.
Open the APK
The APK is in the downloads folder. Tap to open. The system will warn you; allow the install.
Disable the toggle
After the install, disable the install-from-unknown-sources toggle for the browser. This is a small but important security step.
