Pure sequence
Same suit, consecutive rank, no jokers. This is the only mandatory group.
A valid show is a small set of mechanical rules. Read the rulebook, then read the room card, then sit down. This page reads the show rules in that order.
One pure sequence, one impure sequence (or a second pure), and at least one set. Anything in your hand at declaration costs you points.
Same suit, consecutive rank, no jokers. This is the only mandatory group.
Consecutive rank with at least one wild joker. Sits after the pure sequence.
Three or four cards of the same rank. Mixed suits allowed. Joker may substitute one card.
A missed show is the most expensive outcome in rummy. The drop stages below are the cost of avoiding it.
| Outcome | Cost | When it happens |
|---|---|---|
| First drop | 20 points | You quit before your second turn. |
| Middle drop | 40 points | You quit after picking a card but before the show. |
| Full count | Sum of the cards still in your hand | You declared and the show is invalid. |
